LeTourneau University, or LETU, for short, is a private, interdenominational Christian university located in Longview, which is a city in Gregg and Harrison counties, in Texas state, USA, serving as the county seat of Gregg County, with a population of more than 78 000 inhabitants, at the time of the 2009 census.
The university was established in 1946 and was founded by R.G. LeTourneau, as LeTourneau Technical Institute, adopting its current name in 1989.
It offers its students `four-year and two-year degree programs in engineering, technology, the liberal arts, business, aeronautical science, education and the sciences, plus master's degree programs in business.
LeTourneau's athletic teams are known as the Yellowjackets and they compete in NCAA Division III, in the American Southwest Conference. Their distinctive colors are royal blue and gold.
